These colorful nudibranchs or sea slugs inhabit oceans all over the world. They have incredibly beautiful colors and an unusual body shape. They are soft-bodied animals, and like clams, snails and squid, they are mollusks. Nudibranchs belong to phylum Mollusca, class Gastropoda, order Nudibranchia. They use their beautiful colors to advertise to potential predators that they are unpalatable. Some species can also release toxins and others can release acid from their skin when irritated.
